Children
encounter all kinds of grown-ups throughout their young lives -- teachers,
librarians, police officers, fire fighters, sanitation workers, nurses, doctors,
dentists, farmers, and the list goes on. These adults have an impact on your
children, either directly or indirectly.
Authors
are a different beast. Most children don't get to see us creating our stories.
We don't wear a uniform, so we don't stand out in a crowd. Your children don't
witness us directing traffic everyday. We aren't checking their teeth twice a
year or plowing snow from winter streets. Nevertheless, our impact is just as
great. Probably greater. After all, we write the stories about the teachers,
librarians, police officers, fire fighters, sanitation workers, nurses, doctors,
dentists, farmers, and on and on.
Bringing
an author to your school or library brings books to life for your students or
younger patrons. Reluctant readers are likely to become engaged. Rabid readers
are likely to become enthralled.
I've
done presentations for children in grades PK through 3 at the following schools
and libraries: Epping Elementary School, Lamprey River Elementary School in
Raymond, Pollard School in Plaistow (pictured at the top of this page),
Deerfield Community School, Philbrick-James Library in Deerfield, and
Harvey-Mitchell Memorial Library in Epping. Contact
me here for my availability, program information and rates.
The
other six Write Sisters
also do school visits, as well as workshops for adults on writing for children.
From the preschool set through young adults through adults, we have all the
bases covered.
So
bring an author to life by bringing an author to your school or library!
