Welcome! I'm author/educator Andrea Murphy.  I write books and teach preschool. That's me on Santa's lap. Why the sad face? Because I'm sitting on a lap, but nobody is reading to me.

I'm a kook about literacy, and a nag about reading to children. Literacy begins at home, so if you're sitting at home, here's what you should do. If you're a kid, stop reading this right now. I mean it! Now go grab your favorite book, plant yourself on mom or dad's lap and make them read to you. After the story, come on back here and we'll finish our visit. 

If you're a parent and you've found me on the web, I assume you already read to your child each and every day. Keep browsing through my site. You'll find information about lots of wonderful books (mine and some of my favorites) to read to your little ones.
