I'm Andrea Murphy, and I love to write. I write on paper. I write in notebooks. I write on my computer. I write letters to friends. I write lists of things to do. I write books for children to read.

Speaking of reading, I love to do that, too. I read cereal boxes. I read newspapers. I read books. If it has words on it, I'll read it! Why am I so sad in this picture? Because I'm sitting on a lap, but nobody is reading to me!

A note to parents, teachers, and other adults -- This website is written with young readers in mind.  That's not to say you can't enjoy it as well. The School and Library Visits page is actually for the adult readers' information.  My primary goal with the bulk of this site, however, is to put some flesh on the bones of the invisible force behind every book a child picks up -- a children's author!
