Welcome! I'm author/educator Andrea Murphy. I teach and write books. That's me on Santa's lap. Why the sad face? Because I'm sitting on a lap, but nobody is reading to me.
Those are some of the books I've written or contributed to running down the sidebar. I've been busy the last few years writing middle grade profiles for America's Notable Women, a historical nonfiction series from Apprentice Shop Books. One of the women I profiled for the Massachusetts book is my great, great, great aunt. (I actually need a few more "greats" in there, but you get the idea.) Rebecca Nurse lived 15 minutes from Beverly, my hometown. She was executed for witchcraft, although her name was cleared years later. Fat lot of good that did.
I'm a member of The Write Sisters, a group of children's writers. We came together as a critique group decades ago, and have become most excellent friends. We support the greater writing community through our blog, website, and Facebook page.
I'm transitioning to a new website, so this is all you're going to find here at the moment. That won't be the case for long, though.
